Turquoise Blue - Uneven dyeing problem

Rayon fabric printing usually has uneven dyeing problem, no matter its blue or green blocks it causes fabric lost or other printing difficulties to factories or technicians.

We are going to do some tests in our lab and here’s some results we’d like to share and everyone could take it as references.

1.    Semi-finished rayon: Urea amount 100g/KG, steaming humidity 70% & 80%. Two different semi-finished fabrics have same uneven effect.

2.    Thickener (Alginate 6% and 9%): Urea amount 100g/KG, steaming humidity 80%. Different percent thickeners also have same uneven effect.

3.    Sodium carbonate: Urea amount 150g/KG, steaming humidity 70%, soda 25g/KG and add more 10g/KG soda ash. It also not improves the uneven color.

4.    Steaming time: Urea amount 150g/KG, steaming humidity 70%, 102°C x 16mins (double steaming time), the uneven effect still appeared.

5.    Urea: the urea amount will affect uneven problem.

a.    Urea amount 100g/KG, steaming humidity 80%: serious uneven.

b.    Urea amount 150g/KG, steaming humidity 80%: mainly even.

Urea amount 150g/KG, steaming humidity 70%: lightly uneven.

c.     Urea amount 200g/KG, steaming humidity 80%: even color.

Urea amount 200g/KG, steaming humidity 70%: even color.

6.    Humidity in condition (greater than 10 minutes): will affect uneven problem.

a.    Urea amount 150g/KG, steaming humidity 80%, fully humidity before steaming: mainly even.

b.    Urea amount 150g/KG, steaming humidity 80%, and direct streaming after drying: uneven appeared.

7.    Stream humidity: will affect uneven problem.

a.    Urea amount 150g/KG, steaming humidity 80%: mainly even

b.    Urea amount 150g/KG, steaming humidity 70%: slight uneven

Over all, there are three tips need to be aware:

1.    Urea amount: at least 150g/KG

2.    Humidity: at least 10 minutes humidity after dry

3.    Saturated steam: 102°C x 8mins, humidity 85%.
